Hi, Folks!
This weekend, Benita and I watched three episodes of the History Channel show “Cities of the Underworld,” where the host goes underground to forgotten streets, tunnels, sewers, bunkers, and a myriad of other places. For those of you who remember the Mole People part of the story at the end of the first Johnny Saturn arc, you will probably realize that these little known subterranean places are really interesting to me. I never figured that a place as massive and as ornate as Elysium City in Spire City could ever exist in our world, but now I’m not so sure. Amazing stuff, this show. If you have Netflix, you can order each disc of the first season one at a time.
I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but I would like to give a shout out to Kenn Minter and his excellent comic “The Experts.” I have issues 1-3 of the 6 issue mini, and I was thoroughly entertained by its cast of superhero misfits and their unfortunate adventures. Beautifully drawn in a retro style by co-creator Clarence Pruitt, this series has witty nods to pop culture and a host of other subjects. The old conventions of comic book logic rarely have been more entertaining to poke fun at.
