For an independent comic book, the art, story, and even the colors in this mini-series are high-quality. You’d swear this title were published by one of the larger companies instead of by Scott Story and his wife, Benita.—Comic Buyers Guide
…Saturn is a tour de force and well worth reading.–Silver Bullet Comics
Take tight storytelling and old school artwork, toss them in a blender with the best of what has come before and the hope of things to come and Johnny Saturn is what is born from that volatile concoction.—Byte Marks

Hi, Folks!
Today is Voting Day. I’m not going to give you a civics lesson on why you should vote. It’s simpler than that. It’s a question of being heard or not being heard. There is much that is rotten with the system, but don’t ever surrender your right to be heard.
Well, running without a buffer of comics, and getting new episodes ready on a week by week basis, has become my standard of late. Usually I keep a four or five week buffer of strips prepared in advance, but lately that’s just not been an option. Running this close to the wire has had one positive effect, though—I’ve come to respect the individual episodes more! I’ve always been about producing the best work I can, but now it really has become a quality over quantity issue. I plan to build a buffer of pre-prepared strips as soon as I may, but I hope to keep the focus on the individual episodes as well.
I’ve been pretty active on podcasts lately. Last night I joined in on the TGT Podcast that is associated with the Frumph Webcomic List, and that was a lot of fun. Today I called in on Art & Story Live, hosted by Mark Rudolph and Jerzy Drozd, and that was a real treat as well. I plan to keep doing this as often as I am able, because I’ve really come to believe in the comics and webcomics community to which I belong. The fans are great, the creators are great, and I’m proud to have found a group of people like this.
Scott.
Good Morning!
I voted this morning, and it was relatively painless, and only took about an hour. I would have liked seeing a lot more young people there, but that was not the case. They marched kids through the gym we were in to see us standing in line, teaching them their civic duty while young, I suppose: most of the kids were quiet and respectful, but the last kid in line was dancing up a storm! She was partying like there was no tomorrow! I figure she much knows something we don’t, and it made me smile.
I signed up with Dreamhost earlier today, and I have high hopes for improved functionality and speed for this website. I can’t do anything with it yet, because apparently there is a short approval period that has to pass, but tomorrow I should be able to start setting things up.
Well, I’m going to go purchase a little advertisement for Johnny Saturn. Remember, help us spread the word about this strip, because webcomics live and die based on audience attention!
Scott.
Hello, Friends!
All is not right with the world, but I feel it’s a little bit better. We can argue the whys and wherefores forever, but sometimes a little hope sure does feel good.
I just read that popular speculative writer Michael Crichton died at the age of 66 after battling cancer. This really does make me sad—66 is too young! That’s not much older than my Mom! Plus, as much as I enjoyed the movie adaptations of Crichton’s novels (and I very much did enjoy them), I also enjoyed reading the novels first. At least he got to see that variations on the science he proposed in Jurassic Park have developed into very real scientific studies, the discovery of and research into viable dinosaur DNA.
Unlike many bloggers, I usually don’t regale you with personal facts about myself. Sure, you can read between the lines and figure out a lot of my views and attitudes, but I’m not about to start gabbing on and on about my car, my collections, my music instruments, my non-comic interests. Today, I’m going to make an exception.
As those of you who have met me in person already know, I have weight issues. How this came about is not important: The fact that it shortens my life span and brings me perilously close to diabetes. This is not something to be ashamed about, or hide; in fact, I suppose I’m among the majority. In any case, I’ve been going to a non-surgical weight loss clinic and learning how to eat and exercise under a doctor’s supervision. I’m eight weeks into the thirty week session, and my successes have been moderate at best. I’ve learn to control my eating, but exercise has been a major hurdle I just haven’t been able to jump.
Why do I bring this up? For two reasons. One, I’m not alone, and I’m positive many of you are in the same struggle for health that I am. This is not something to be ashamed or guilty about; it’s a call to action. Two, it has been a struggle for me, and I need this program to work. I kid you not—I NEED it to work! I want your good thoughts on this. If you are of the praying persuasion, a word for me is appreciated. If you just want to beam me encouragement and strength across the ether, I’ll receive it and be thankful for it. I believe in this community; I know you won’t let me down.
Scott.
Hi, Folks:
Tomorrow I’m switching the site over to Dreamhost, so I expect the site to be down for most of the day. I’ve never done anything like this, so I’ve also allowed for the change to go into Saturday.
If your links read anything other than the standard www dot johnnysaturn dot com, then you will probably need to reset them. I’ll post more about this as I find out, and I’ll try to put up a redirect.
Thanks!
Hi, Friends! As you can see, the site isn’t down, and I’m further along the path of getting things transferred over than I expected to be at this point. Things are still a little hectic here, and there are lots of details to iron out, but at least the comics are available for your reading pleasure.
Thanks so much for your patience! Scott
This week, on Frumph.net, the site of Phil Hofer aka Frumph, Johnny Saturn is the featured webcomic. Phil has become a great friend, and I refer to him as a true Webcomic Crusader. Here’s the article:

Spotlight on: Johnny Saturn by Scott and Benita Story
This spotlight is on Johnny Saturn a graphic novel webcomic by Scott & Benita Story. It’s a superhero comic but let’s not get fooled by thinking it’s your run of the mill Saturday morning superhero cartoon or Marvel/DC comic that pretends to be edgy.
Johnny Saturn IS edgy. It has complicated and well thought out plots. Citizens and supers alike have enough thought put into each and every one of them that you imagine this was written as a book and put into graphic novel form.
I can only compare Johnny Saturn with Batman from DC… if Batman actually wasn’t a pansy who never got hurt. Ever notice how Batman never *really* get’s hurt… in ALL those fights he’s had his body isn’t torn up with scar’s and traces of fighting, if there ever was a fight and he got hurt, two panels later he’s fine and dandy. Johnny isn’t and it shows that he’s worked hard to protect the innocent.
My song pick for Johnny Saturn will probably surprise Scott Story himself who suggested alot of older 70′s style songs. This song by Oingo Boingo really struck me with it’s fast individualistic energy and determination. .. “Who Do You Want to Be” by Oingo Boingo.
