No worries there, Dr. Pepper. Kirby is just one of my influences, and I have no more desire to Kirbyfy the comc than I do to MIgnola it, or Buscema it. Thanks!

Please. I liked his decorative borders, but he came over to DC like a half witted frat boy who suddenly inherited his dad's factory and messed with most of my favorites.

There's a web comic out there (forget the name just now) with a lot of thinly disguised borrowings. In one episode the JLA analog needed some really serious consultation, and ended up talking to the Darkseid analog. They found him ruling over a dark and broken world. Turned out he'd conquered New Genesis and killed all the Forever People. That made me so happy!

Please don't Kirbify your own world.

You nailed it, Rob!

As far as Kirby goes, I can really understand what you are saying about some of the characters Kirby invented. For every Dr. Doom, there was a Forever People. Some of his stuff was just plain silly. And, why oh why did they let him dialogue his Fourth World material? It's a mystery to me.

Gaiman's Eternals was better than OK, but it didn't move me. I finished off that series primarily for John Romita Jr's beautiful art work.

So, the Utopian grows stronger after a visit, a demotion, and a chat; such is the power of Oblivious! er, I mean Elite!

I have a love/hate relationship with Kirby and his characters—they seem either too silly (the Eternals) or too cool for words (the Demon). Although I've not gotten a peep yet at what Gaimen's done with the Eternals.

Utopian & Women: Too true!

I have studied Jack Kirby's artwork up and down, and he's a giant compared to my other influences. I could go on and on about how wonderful his drawing was, but you get the idea. Not too shabby about character invention and design, too.

At least he doesn't have to worry about a woman being his downfall heh.

I've always liked Iron Claw design so it is nice to get tidbits of info here and there.

Great Kirby (The Freakin Master!) reference. I have some collected F4 stuff and it is honestly beautiful.

Yeah, I'm really playing up that Samson comparison of longer hair equals stronger.

Iron Claw is a Pakistani, but he was born in America after his parents moved here. Someday I'd like to explore him more, because he is thoroughly American, yet tied to his heritage.

Stay tuned for Thursday for the possible explanation.

When I designed the super-weight machine, I did with Jack Kirby in mind, so it's a Kirby Machine!

Thats a strange way to lift any sort of weight! No proper back support it does not even look like he is positioned under the configuration of the base to life anything properly. Unless he is like a telekenitic so I guess the normal laws of physics wont apply.
