In my professional opinion, giant shockwaves in the middle of a city are rarely a sign of happy things going on.

Now THAT is an epic collision. And yeah, the giant shockwaves are definitely a sign to evacuate-not just that city, but that state too.

You ever seen Transformers: Beast Wars, Scott? ‘Cause the first panel reminds me SO much of the scene in the premiere episode where the two factions clash in their beast modes-they charge at each other just like the Brigade and Squadron do (no epic shockwave when they collided though, that came later).

If you haven’t seen Beast Wars, I highly recommend it (the Mainframe computer animation series, not the Japanese cartoon).

Actually, I haven’t seen Beast Wars. But, I bet they were loosely influenced by the same people I was, name John Buscema “Avengers” covers from the 60′s, and JLA vs. army of villains in the 70′s.

Note: Of all the episodes I’ve drawn, this is my favorite ever. It feels like the comic has been building to this confrontation for years.

Thanks, Dustin! I’m going to make free wallpaper of that top panel.

Looks like someone has an Axe to grind there…

And oh boy are they going to be cleaning that place up for a long time, it don’t matter who wins that is a mess.

Looking at the last page, the shockwave looks to have been caused by that one in the upper left there…

Triops looks like he is scratching his head in either:

    A. Disbelief that supers actually charge each other in lines

    or

    B. He’s “got no idea whats goin on.” (bonus points if you get the reference)

Actually I based the fingertips to skull pose on pictures of old mentalists/stage magicians.

Both sides are unusually ‘regimental’ in this pic.

Dang! How many bought the farm just from that collision. I can just imagine this playing out like one of those shockwave scenes in The Lord of the Rings.

    Very cool!
