And there go his powers… guess that stuff he spouted about Utopian ideas was the straight shoot. Or is he simply back to where he was when the comic started?
Based on how badly Johnny’s arm is broken, with the possible arterial damage, and the type of technology brought into use, his arm should be out of commission for a good six weeks. I guess the deciding factor would be, is this a simple break which can be set, or a multiple break that would require surgery and staples.
Correct on the first guess! Losing his super strength resulted in loosing all that muscle mass. The Utopian we see now is Brian Faraday, as if he had never gotten superpowers at all.
This line of reasoning reminds me a little bit of Wonder Woman, who has a mission of peace, stands for truth, and will go to war and kill as needed. Doesn’t ever quite ad up.
Utopian will have time to mull over his loss in the aftermath, but his reactions and conclusions may not be what you are expecting, based on old comic steryotypes.
Wonder Woman is from the day when people understood what the founders of America understood and what the people who fought against the fascists in WWII knew, there is such a thing as a ‘Just War’. If good people don’t stand up for what is right, the bad people will run them over as cowards. This doesn’t make if fun and doesn’t justify any and all wars, but sometimes you have to do it, even if it hurts.
He could always go back to his dad any see if anything interesting happens….
What happens to all that power that dissipated btw ? Johnny was standing awfully close by.
His decisions would have alot to do with why he became a superhero in the first place I presume. Was he only trying to live up to his dad’s example and did he feel pressured into playing the part ? Guess we dont know that much about him personally. Just how old is Brian anyway ?
You’ve got nothing to worry about there. Symphony’s percieved failure cost the lives of his teammates and labelled him a coward. For a hero with a spotless record, there couldn’t be much worse of a fate.
I have read the other comments and know that U just lost super strength, but in that last panel he looks like a 5 year-old wearing his dads super suit. Almost expect him to start running around going “whoosh” and telling everyone to look, he’s a super hero.
Great question. Either of the Johnny Saturns are tough enough to make their way in the super world, and they’re powerless; Is Utopian made of that stern of stuff? Well…
Is the Elect like the Oan power battery? Or is he more like an enzyme that once it “turns something on” it stays on? Could it be that killing him would release mucho energy and depower many “Supers” good and bad? Or just be a big power release and “Supers” go on?
Great question, Al! His excess energy is what grants/increases power in others, but it’s not like the Oan power battery. If Elect were killed, most of the people he affected would not suffer an incovience.

Lost his powers because he killed someone ?
Looks that way.
Johnny Saturn doesn’t whinge about a broken arm, he puts it in a splint and goes out clubbing
Either he just lost his powers, or some gas/energy alien was nesting inside him.
After I eat bad pouch tuna I throw up some interesting things too. Don’t worry U, a good night’s sleep and you’ll feel better.
Either the excess power left him, or all of his power is gone. We will see, and boy Johnny is not going to be able to use that arm for a while now.

Totally lost at least some of his power, just noticed in the 3rd panel how his clothes are loose fitting now
He looks like a little boy now. Interesting twist
I wonder if its because he used deadly force on someone from behind. Or just for the deadly force thing.

Brian is 27.
I also hopes he handles his fall from grace ( if we can call it that ) better than Symphony did.

Scott, is he going to roll over and go to sleep now, or is he going to want to talk and cuddle?
Wicked! Ha!
Talk & cuddle.
I hate to say this, but I think Utopian needs a fluffer.
Ewww! (Of course, I get the joke, though)
You mean you didn’t intend it to be a porn joke? Oh! Sorry…you meant it to be a reference to the Fifth Element…oh, geez…*blush*
Yeah, Fifth Element was what I had in mind, at least a little bit. But, the porn joke, while unintended, works fine too. I’m not picky.

I guess the real question is, will Brian ever get his powers back? Or is stuck like us mere mortals, powerless (to an extent) on this plane?

Just my 2 cents 0_o
