Good to see Gauge in her element. She always struck me as the logistical type. Which actually makes her a good CO for Tom.

I’ll be interested to see how Saturn squares needing to get his arm fixed with his day job, though.

You will say i again don’t understand characters, but don’t giving water to somebody bleeding is a sure mean to kill him ?

From my understanding, it’s quite the opposite. Bleeding equals fluid loss. I’m not in the medical profession, though, so don’t count this as gospel.

Of course, it’s not the fluid loss that would kill him, no directly. It’s the dropping blood pressure, and then starving the brain for oxygen.

Bleeding isnt a problem when giving water to a wounded man, but abdominal injuries are ! Bloodplasma or O-neg are given ( by IV ) to keep the bloodpressure up.
Invent a safe, universal bloodsubstitute thats easily stored with a long shelflife and you could pretty much retire for life. Armies alone would be VERY interested in such a product.

And on a side note, would Dr. W taking advantage of Tactical’s absense to attack his base be a good reason for Tactical to withdraw at this point ?

And all the heavy hitters are down, boy they have really going to need some good doctors now.

Is it just me, or does Utopian’s outfit look like it’s changed a bit over the years? Obviously his hair has grown out, but he looks different from Book One.

Actually, you’re spot on. Utopian’s current costume debuted in issue 7. Many of the characters changed their costumes around that time.

Johnny Saturn II is on his second costume and third helmet, for example. He and the Tailor keep modifying and re-imagining it.

I never really like the comic convention that sticks characters in the same suit forever, or makes it a big deal when they change suits. Spider-Man and Superman have both gone through well over a dozen different costume variations each over the years, but very rarely do the new versions stay. (Actually, Spidey lost his armpit webbing, and Superman’s original boots were lased up like a circus strong man’s boots.)

OK, sometimes the changes take. Captain America began in one suit, but soon switched to a modified version, and that has stuck for decades. Same with Dr. Doom.

At least the X-men change costumes every couple years.

So true. The Robins keep modifying their costumes, too, over time. Hmmn, that Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, and Damian Wayne if I remember correctly.

Actually, the superheroes most well known for costume changes are the Wasp (who seemed to wear a different costume every few issues) and Iron Man (who changes his costume whenever he upgrades his armour ,though most of them have a red & gold colour scheme).

Yeah, agreed. When George Perez drew the Avengers, the Wasp really did change costumes every issue.

It’s weird, I thought Ti Tom was one of those people who are too stubborn to stay down. I figured half of Gauge’s job was to keep him from running off long enough for the medics to stop the bleeding.

Well, I think he is. He’s already struggling back up in this panel. And, that’s after taking a superstrong sledgehammer blow to the head.

Gauge is second in charge, but she’s not Tom’s keeper. They work well together, but there’s no other connection between them.

@daymon They also need Staff of Life. I’m guessing she could have ended the whole shebang before it started. I wonder how she’ll feel about not being there?

Good stuff! I like the physical depth and range of this panel and go TiTom for standing back up. Great scene and great to see Gauge taking control here. Glad you cleared up the TiTom connection. I had never figured they were with her flirting with Triops but you never know.

Wow, you picked up on the flirting… Cool.

I’ve developed a little Photoshop technique for the field of depth thing with the smoke. I paint the smoke under the characters, then I copy that layer and put it over the line art. Then, I erase as much of the smoke as I want on the upper level, and it suddenly looks like the characters are moving through the smoke, not just behind or in front of it.

She smiled at him. I never saw her do it before and I haven’t seen her do it sense. I try to reread when I have time and I pick up on some of that stuff.

That is a really cool with the method. I would have never figured that out.

Will we get to see Super Hero try outs? I’ll submit a resume if so hhaha.

It’s funny about that–A woman might smile at a man in friendship, or trying to put him at ease; a man might read that smile as interest.

No matter what, I think it’s safe to say that Gauge has taken Triops under her wing.

Interesting note on the technique. I wouldn’t have guessed. Tried it out for myself, and I’m impressed with the result. Thanks for the tip.

My pleasure, Scascot. I’ve been using Photoshop for so many years that I’ve got a zillion tips.
