And by the way, Scott, I think doing away with the red letters has improved things. For one, now it’s clear that (to steal Frank Herbert’s words) ‘creamy look of satisfaction’ on Nick’s face is all his (which was well, if creepily, done, I might add). And, yes, I suppose Tactical really did ‘cut loose.’ Not in the way I was expecting, mind.
Y’now, I think that’s the happiest he’s ever looked.
Poor Patel. Should’ve lied, dude. Psycopaths want ‘pleasant’ answers, not real ones.
Thanks, Rob–I got rid of the red letters on your suggestion. They were one of those last minute inspirations that should have looked neat, but did not.
DWWolf: Yes, powered armor. The knife is off the shelf normal, but the armor gives Tactical about triple the strength of three enraged silverback gorillas. Very messy.
Yep, as I said last page, a violent and messy end for poor Dr. Patel. And if Tactical does this to the doctor who failed to save Alaric’s life, just imagine what he’s going to do to the former Utopian, who is now more vulnerable in more ways than one…
By the way, Scott, I love the way you depicted Dr. Patel’s….carving. Does a good job of showing the good Dr’s horror and pain without getting too explicit. Might get you a PG-13 rating, though
Thanks! I didn’t want to do it as gory as when Synn-demon kill Musclebound back in issue 5. I used to thing that I pushed the outer limits with violence and gore, and then came the Authority. Or the Sentinal ripping Ares in half more recently. I’ve got nothing on those artists.
That was pushing my own limits too. To be honest I almost stopped reading. Few things are as bad as seen innocent people and the good guys being killed so messily and casually. Glad I stuck with it though. I think NOT showing the violence is better in this case. It leaves what he’s doing up to our imagination.
I feel sorry for the doc. I’m sure he didn’t want to heal evil people while in med school. He probably hit some bad luck, made a bad choice, and got blacklisted from the profession (probably justifiably blacklisted) and had no other options if he wanted to practice medicine.
he need to die.
That must be a VERY sharp knife.
Powered Armor…..
I was wondering about that.

Ah, glad to see Tactical has a respect for the classics.

…in other words, Utopian’s a dead man.
Yeah, the Utopian’s prospects aren’t all that good.
At that moment, everyone realized it had been a big mistake to always let Tactical carve the Thanksgiving turkey.
And those eyes….

Can anyone link me to the comic Tactical talks to his dead friend while he has a stroke? I can’t find it in the archive.

I’m not thrilled with this archive system. Sorry!
